I can't tell you how much I loathe Yankees.  If it was up to me, I'd forbid any one of 'em coming to NC for any reason.  And Californians as well.

NC appears to be a hotbed of retired LEOs fleeing NYsh*tty. The good news is most are VERY conservative. They just talk funny.

The fruit pickers are mostly young and healthy and keep to themselves so I wonder if the infections will lead to many deaths?

In MN the daily deaths were around 10 most recently 4, so the GF riots have not lead to many virus deaths so far.

Since the death of journalism I'm having a difficult time finding out the demographics of those hospitalized so I'm trying to reserve judgement. Certainly I leave room for other explanations but  the phenomena is playing out in other areas. Migrant labor is streaming in from Mexico where they have an acute problem with ControllaVirus. They are congregating in cramped quarters and don't practice anti-social distancing.

It will be interesting to learn what the facts are.

From what I'm hearing, they're being tested, hence the increased "infection" rate.

We're being lied to.

I wuz gonna make a new thread called "Mask Warz" but decided to park this here instead.

Today marks the first time in three weeks I've been off the property (except a trip to get a new tire) and the first time in almost six weeks that I've been to the grocery store. I feel sorta like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day!

I've gone to ground mostly because most stuff is still closed. But also because I will not wear a mask. I had to replace a tire on my car trailer last week. I dreaded it because of the mask bullsnot. There's no medical reason for them and they make breathing miserable.

So I made the trek and discovered that they were doing a modified curbside service where the customer stays in his vehicle. Whatever works, says I.

But they needed my presence inside for some reason and invited me in (all the while seeing that I am bare-faced). I'm with the salesman for about ten minutes when he suddenly looks up (like this is the first time he's laid eyes on me) and demands, "Where's your mask?!"

"Don't have one - don't use 'em" I reply.

He ponders that one for a moment and then the little light comes on (albeit dimly), "You can't be in here without a mask!" he insists.

I look directly at him, making eye contact. "Well you were the one who invited me inside here, knowing that I didn't have one."

He has to think on this one - he knows it's true, but doesn't conform to his programming. He then does an about face and leaves into the shop. A couple of minutes later he returns with one of those worthless paper jobbies. "Here, you can keep this" he says, as though he is doing me a favor.

So I hold it up in front of my face, about two inches from my mouth. He's gone back to writing up the sales order and telling me that I'll have to wait in my car because there are two people ahead of me. As he finishes clacking the keys on the register he looks up and sees me holding the mask.

He gets this curious look on his face (as much face as I could see behind his mask) - a combination of wonderment and disgust. He's clearly vexed that I haven't donned the stupid mask but incredulous that I'm not blindly complying with Big Brother's diktat.

He rushed to complete the paperwork and they jumped me to the head of the line. I was done and out of there in under ten minutes!

And I'm sure that they all breathed a stale, carbon-dioxide rich sigh of relief as I peeled out down the street.

Mask Warz Part II

So, having survived the tire store not exactly filling me with any joy and camaraderie, I decided to retreat to my castle and pull the drawbridge up behind me. Every time I go out into the world I am greeted with abject stupidity and I want no part of it.

My brothers come to visit from time to time and other than that I sing, "Make the world go away"

I had a coupon for free grocery delivery and took them up on it. Score! No trip to the store. I  completed a refi on my home loan and did everything over the net. The bank sent a notery to my house for closing - score again!

But perishable groceries only last about so long and I needed to shop. I had put it off for as long as I possibly could.

So off to the grocery store this morning.

The last time I went inside the store they were encouraging masks, not requiring them. I had been able to wave them off. But I knew this time would be different and much more stringent.

The serpentine line was gone from outside the store - this was a good sign. I grabbed a cart and entered. Once I was committed to the store I encountered the signs mandating a mask. Too late now, I pushed on. Stock workers were busy restocking shelves. They had masks around their necks that they pulled up when they saw me approaching. Another employee exited the back room - no mask. This is going better than I expected!

I walk the aisles gathering the stuff I needed. I encounter two more store employees, one no mask the other neck mask. As I turn the corner I see another clerk type approach. She gives the same saccharin "How are you today?" greeting but she isn't smiling.

"Is there a reason we aren't wearing our mask today?" There's no concern - this is all authority speaking. Did I mention that I don't like people trying to boss me around?

"Yes" was all I said.

"Well you need to be wearing a mask - it's the rule!" she demanded.

"No thank you" I replied.

She strikes "the pose" (jutting out her jaw, hands on her hips), "You have to wear a mask!"

"I disagree"

"It's the law!"

"There are exceptions"

"What's your exception?"

"I have respiratory issues"

"Oh"

I finish up and make my way for the checkout. There's only one station open (along with the self-serve which I refuse to use). Only one person ahead of me - good! The checker is the chatty type but I'm not in a hurry (I can see the finish line!) and patiently waiting my turn.

The checker completes the transaction and wipes all the ControllaVirus germs to the side of the conveyor. I start placing my groceries on the conveyor when I hear a muffled voice behind me (barely).

"Murf furkle tblab" the masked man mutters. "Pardon?" I respond.

"Didn't you see me standing here?!" he almost shouts aggressively.

The technique works so well that I just had to lean on it once again. "No" I say, "I didn't see you at all. Were you hiding around the corner?"

This isn't one of those super stores and space is limited, even in the best of times. ControllaVirus has the anti-social distancing rules that mark out where everyone is supposed to stand. Six feet from the 2nd shopper would land right in the middle of the main aisle so the put the next one about eight or nine feet away at the edge of the next aisle. Approaching from the direction I came one can not see anyone standing there.

So I start pulling my stuff off the belt and he shouts, "No you don't gotta do that!"

"I didn't mean to cut - I'll let you go first" I calmly reply.

"No, it's too late. I just wondered why you cut"

"I didn't "cut" and you're welcome to go first if you like."  Aren't I being gracious?

"No, go ahead" he insists.

I shrug and quickly load my stuff, loathing ever having stepped inside this little corner of hell. The checker sees that I'm not masked and immediately gets on the intercom with coded message about a notorious scofflaw. My tolerance is fading fast. Another female approaches and declares, "Oh, the "medical issues" person." she says snotty. "What was the issue again?"

One again I fix my stern-face glare on her and calmly (but firmly) state: "Did you know that it is against the law to discriminate against persons with disabilities? Were you aware that you are forbidden by the Americans with Disabilities Act to question my medical health? And you do understand that you cannot make me wear a mask, right?!"

That stopped her dead in her tracks.

The checker handed me a flimsy paper mask and grimly returned to her task when she saw that I held it up refusing to don it.

I'm going back to ground and I ain't coming out until sanity returns!

Well...hope you like ground...cause these moonbat sumbiches are enjoying their bullying too much to let it go under any reason...

Most people leave me alone...might be the "eat and sh*t you out" indifference in my eyes...I dunno...whatever...the truly stupid ones press ahead with illustrating their imbecility...which animates the cat in me to play with prey...

Most times I have no patience with such and merely laugh and shake my head...or bark out a snort...

Like that old movie...I see a lot of dead people...

I wrote (it's on the forum here somewhere) about being confronted, twice, about not wearing a mask.  I decided the tack to take is yours, 'Soup, to tell the karen that I have a medical issue which exempts me from Governor Goober Cooper's order -- it is NOT a law! -- and further questioning of me on the issue is prohibited by HIPPAA.

Anywhere the progressive-totalitarians dwell, they're enforcing the masking/distancing in their ever-so virtuous ways.  I am somewhat amused by the irony of them attempting to force people to repeatedly breathe in their own CO2 while ranting against the presence of atmospheric CO2 resulting in glowball warmink/climate change/climate chaos.

You guys need to move to better neighborhoods.

My local ACE was the only place I was even trying to wear a mask- I like the people there, most of them are elderly, and the first time they asked me to wear one- they didn't tell me to.   But even there, no one is wearing a mask any more.  The number of mask wearers in any store I have been in - grocery, hardware ( home depot, lowes and ace),  the liquor store, you name it.. have always been less than 1/2 of the patrons.  The employees are wear because their business license is under threat if they don't-- but you can bet if left to their own devices, they wouldn't be wearing any masks either.  ANd for those who are at risk - like my elderly neighbors - we are still doing their shopping ( as we should be)  So the fag governor can go sit ..

It depends where you go in my neck of town...far enough away from core hive...but we have our grab bag of beta's, gamma's, karen's...a lot of stores like Coborn's (groceries), convenience stores etc people are largely un-masked and civil...PetsMart OK too...but I've stayed away from larger stores where I am sure the neo-bullies are in force...besides I can order that crap online...don't have to deal with idjits!

And up at the lake towns around they're way less full of morons...those that are present are the townies with lake property of the hive-mind...and they are outnumbered there and don't bitch about scat...

Menards asked me to wear a mask. I did. Cub does not care. Maybe less than half of people wore masks. The liquor store does not care.

I feel a little queasy wearing one for more than a few minutes.

I've used that in stadiums where they don't want outside beverages taken inside - as a runner I drink LOTS of water & always have 2-3-4 bottles in a shoulder bag. I go in with he bag open & a prescription container & just tell 'em I have a medical condition that necessitates the consumption of water with my meds.

They ALWAYS wave me through!

(the condition is this: no water for 2-3 days & I die  ;) )

Heh - I haven’t had vodka since college - when I drank Screwdrivers @ dance-halls & clubs.
These days it’s a rare beer (Sam Adams, Evil Genius) — but mostly a nice Shiraz, Cab or Malbec🍷🍷

I haven't had Vodka...since the weekend, much prefer single malt Scotch and really like single batch/barrel bourbon.  I like Sam Adams varieties too, really like Shiner Bock...for wine I like Rhone reds, Beaujolais, Pinot but really like Italian Chianti especially Tuscan...something about those Sangiovese grapes!

Oh oh...off topic...

Can't drink with a damn mask on!

OK,  back on topic.   ;D

Maybe we should start a thread for sad, poignant stories of folks who've [tragically] died of COVID19.

I read one yesterday about a person who, while in the hospital, called for his nurse & said

Quote
"I think I've made a mistake . . . [cough cough] I thought this was a hoax . . . [hack-hack] . . . but I was wrong!"

He then, slipped away to join the quiet invisible . . .

I'm sure faux journalists everywhere are dreaming up new ways to enslave us to the d...da...dangers of this pandemic, uhm cultural inconvenience.

It's funny how the Stone commutation blew the pLandemic right off the FakeNews vomitorium's...that and butthirt commies tired of getting their ass handed to them by the Valkyrie and calling for the resignation of the WH Press Sec because they cannot get her to take their poisoned bait, cannot get her to allow their filibustering with their tired of narrative and cannot argue with reason.

Now is the time to beat the hell out of them even harder.
