Why I'm a Democrat

/hat tip American Digest
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

Okay, I will.

Now I have.  Good piece of satire of exactly what I expected him to say seriously, because that's exactly how they are.

Did you know that Rush actually got that from a Vanderleun post?  I remember reading the original post, and then Rush talking about it a day or two later.

(Note the last line in the post.  See the comments too.)

No, I didn't know that, but I hope he gave proper attribution.  VanDerLeun is a gem .... most of the time.

See the comments.  One mentions that Rush was struggling with the pronunciation of his name.  Me, I'm still unsure about the spaces and capitalization.

Oh, and here's a link to the post which contained the video.

That's a good site.  I read one of the other posts there and one of the commenters left what I thought was a pretty pithy summary of our state of affairs:

Quote
The wheel turns. Taxation without representation was one of the chief causes of the American Rebellion; representation without taxation may well be the cause of the next revolution. Not just in the USA, either.

That really is the long and short of it, isn't it?

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
