Polar Opposites

Sometimes a picture is worth more than a thousand words. Sometimes a picture can boil a thing down to its essence better than anything.

So here's where we're at.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

- Thomas Jefferson

They need to be facing each other.
"Under certain circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer." - Mark Twain

"Let us assume for the moment everything you say about me is true. That just makes your problem bigger, doesn't it?"

How about this?

Conservatives think that all children deserve the right to show society who they can be and believe that if a person shows society that they are a blood thirsty killer they no longer deserve to live.

Liberals think that it is inhumane to end the life of a vicious killer but believe it is quite alright to abort a possible Einstein because a potential mother thinks it would a) be too much hassle, b) add to over population, c) destroy her body (pick one) to give birth to another human.

As in a duel!

Damn, I wish that tradition would come back!

Up is down, down is up, good is evil, evil is good...it's battle that is much more black & white than most people are willing to admit!
