Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they're being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.

Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They've been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn't an option.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they've owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

"I had to go to town today and buy Ralph undershirts and jeans because I forgot his pants," Joyce Spencer told Action News.

The Stewart's Point home sits on federal land, so even though the Spencers own their cabin outright, they're not allowed in until the government reopens

How can this be viewed as anything other than an act of war?

If I was their County Sheriff I would be escorting them back to their home with a shouldered rifle, and I would arrest any federal agent who dared to interfere.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I don't understand how this qualifies as a shutdown.

Closed office buildings with people not going in to work--that's a shutdown.

So much for the no bullying campaigns. It's simple. Cause as much pain as humanly possible. There s no other reason to kick homeowners out of their homes, I don't care what type of land it is.
I'm not always engulfed in scandals, but when I am, I make sure I blame others.

Yes.  And I was thinking the same thought about the Inn in western NC.

To be successful, it seems to me that resistance of this nature would ultimately need to have the blessings of a governor and state police. The County Sheriff is the most local elected official, but resistance would be less likely to succeed if you had to fight not only the federal government, but the state police and your own governor.

Bottom line: the efforts to resist are noble and necessary, wherever they occur. But we need more than the state of Wisconsin to vocally and actionably oppose these acts of war against the people by this illegitimate regime.

The Optics on this are so bad I wonder if they aren't trying to get the civil war started.  If TPTB know what they are doing, then its the only reasonable explanation.  So if this event goes off as planned with any real participation you have a setup that either makes the regime looks stupid and weak, or a Tienanmen Square event involving vets trying to access their memorials over the objects of the petty tyrant willing to deploy tanks or other military assets against them. If the Vets come armed, the chances of a real battle breaking out are probably pretty good.  Perhaps the regime thinks this will concentrate the people who would form a liberty resistance and this is a "decapitation" move.

This bolsters the "goal is to fragment America, not control it" theory. A regime aiming at totalitarian control would simply not set up the optics this way.  They can't afford it. They need to have the appearance of legitimacy to maintain order, and this makes them looks about as illegitimate and petty as possible. TPTB may simply want America off the world stage, and perhaps attacking us after we have weakened ourselves- if we get to a point where they don't think there will be a credible nuke retaliation to a surprise strike possibly with EMP.  With this weeks events, I think a civil war has now passed the point of being inevitable. They may be trying to force the confrontation now because the economy really is getting close to nosediving and want the excuse to start using military assets against the population - again not with the goal of actually controlling, but with the goal of destroying all control structures.

Or it could simply be TPTB share the insane hubris of their Puppets Obama, Pelosi and Reid, and really think they can maintain control.  Liberals are dumb that way .. no they would really start shooting over and access to a memorial would they? I mean who cares about a small tax on tea.

They have no understanding go morality or the principals that drive it and therefore simply can't understand that anyone would be willing  die over such little things. The phrase "Liberty or Death" is utterly non-nonsensical to them. "What good is liberty of you are dead?"  they think-- being too self centered to understand anything idea  is bigger than their own egos.  We see our potential death in a fight for liberty as helping to secure liberty for those we leave behind - our children, our wives, and the future human race. The last, best hope. Lefties say they fight for that perfect Marxist  "Utopian society" but they really do not - they fight to have free stuff, for the feel-good ego boost of "caring", to have their ideas and values imposed upon others, for the power trip of being superior and making others obey them. I hope that really is their motivation driver and goal.  If they do this out of hubris rather than calculation, we have a good chance of serving justice upon them.

If you still support the regime at this point, you are a traitor- not to the United States, but to all of civilization and decency. If you think giving control of healthcare over to an institution so petty and corrupt that it would kick people from their homes out of simple and malignant  spite is a good idea, then you simply don't deserve to live. There can be no question now that the Healthcare law would be used to persecute others, just as the IRS has been . At this point if you support the regime, you support using govt power in the same way the Nazis used it - to exterminate those you find undesirable, and you deserve no mercy.

And let's not forget to shut down...the ocean!

Feds Try to Close the OCEAN Because of Shutdown

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/10/05/Feds-Try-to-Close-the-OCEAN-Because-of-Shutdown

<snip>

Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was "closed" due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.

The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban... of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.

This is governing by temper-tantrum. It is on par with the government's ham-fisted attempts to close the DC WWII Memorial, an open-air public monument that is normally accessible 24 hours a day. By accessible I mean, you walk up to it. When you have finished reflecting, you then walk away from it.

At least that Memorial is an actual structure, with some kind of perimeter that can be fenced off. Florida Bay is the ocean. How, pray tell, do you "close" 1,100 square miles of ocean? Why would one even need to do so?

Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Centuries ago, King Canute famously failed to command the ocean tide to stop. His display was actually a means to educate his subjects on the limits of royal power. Today, however, our President actually believes he has the power to control the oceans. </snip>

Families throw off the cones at Badlands National Park in South Dakota

Tax-paying, hard-working families aren’t letting White House shutdown politics stop them from enjoying America’s beauty. They’re defying the orange cones at Mount Rushmore. They’re breaching the barrycades at Zion National Park. And now, the Badlands of South Dakota.

Noelle Bruno tweets that she and her family made it through Mount Rushmore despite the White House obstacle. Read more...http://twitchy.com/2013/10/06/families-throw-off-the-cones-at-badlands-national-park-in-south-dakota/

These are our parks and monuments.

BO is so stupid  arrogant he thinks he can close the outdoors!

It seems to me that the ones doing all the bashing about the shutdown are the liberals.  Sanders tweeted that it's clear that the dems won on Obamacare and that the GOP is causing the shutdown.  The WH is purposely trying to hurt Americans who aren't his supporters. It's not the veterans and vacationers complaining about the shutdown.

WIN-WIN

Administration lawyers OK return of furloughed civilian Pentagon workers

Daughter gets to go back to work tomorrow AND shutdown still going on.

(Such a joke considering that leaves 400,000 furloughed which is not exactly a shutdown.)

People need to storm these sites and defy the Dictator in DC.  More resistance is called for, civil disobedience on a massive scale, the statists have to be forced to back down or to go full-thug and expose themselves for what they are.  Enough of this BS.
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Get his attention<CLOSE THE GOLF COURSES HE SO DEARLY LOVES.

Heard his favorite course at the air force base is open.     I wouldn't be surprised if he is still golfing regularly.   Of course the lamestream wouldn't report it anyway.

If it was so horrible for Bush to golf,  why is ok for Barry?
